Lennox International believes it’s critical to keep Ethics + Compliance communications on point and in tune with their employees. So when evaluating solutions to support their Ethics + Compliance goals, Lennox wanted to select something unique. Something that fit their culture. Something that aligned with their budget.

“Real Biz Shorts is an entertaining way of keeping Ethics + Compliance top of mind for our workforce,” said Betty Ungerman, Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Chief Ethics + Compliance Officer for Lennox International. Wanting to make sure they weren’t making light of serious issues, the E+C Office also consulted and received buy-­in from both their Chief Legal Officer and Chief Human Resources Officer.

Here’s how Lennox International makes it work for them:

  • Lennox selects videos from the extensive RBS library based on topic, relevance and appropriateness for their global audience One RBS video is sent out to employees each month via an email that includes a message about how the scenario ties into their Code of Conduct, policies and culture
  • Selected RBS videos are added to their intranet site and are incorporated in PowerPoint presentations for Code of Conduct, New Hire Orientation, Anti­Corruption and Third Party Management, and other live training

“Our communications and training were typically longer in the past, but longer is not necessarily more effective,” explained Ungerman. “We have implemented several communication tools in our Ethics + Compliance program–including RBS–that are short, sweet and to the point. They can be used in team meetings, distributed electronically, and posted on TVs, bulletin boards, or webpages. Together, they make up great resources for our managers and employees and have added interest to our program.”

And it just gets better! Employee survey results have been very strong, and the Lennox team feels that their plussed-up communication program is at least partially responsible.

Ungerman added, “I can’t tell you how many times our CLO has come around the corner immediately after we’ve rolled out an RBS video to tell me how much he liked it; and they are very popular with our Board, as well. We’ve also had a few instances where an employee responds to an RBS email with a question or concern, and that’s a big deal to us.”

And a really big deal to us, too!
